Bridal Hair – Molly’s Mixed Braid Updo

September 25, 2016 1 Comments

I was so excited when Molly asked me to do the hair for her wedding, especially when she told me she wanted a braided style. We both picked apart our Pinterest boards for inspiration, and went through two hair trials before we landed on an updo that incorporated all of the elements she loved best:

Molly wanted her hair braided back on both sides, and a messy/looped bun that still looked formal enough for her absolutely beautiful gown. I created a double french lace braid that wrapped around a twisted rope braided bun, and it is seriously one of my favorite hair styles I’ve ever done!

Molly’s photographer, Brittney Naylor, did an amazing job of capturing the big day!

Please visit her website if you need a photographer in the SC/NC area, she is wonderful!

I also had the honor of doing the hair for the entire bridal party. They each had a different braid incorporated into a wavy, half-up style. I loved that their dresses were each a different color, and styled according to each of the girl’s personalities. So beautiful!

Doesn’t Molly look so incredibly boho-elegant? Would you believe me if I told you that this style is easily achievable if you break it down into easy to learn sections? Stay tuned for a step-by-step tutorial where you’ll learn the how to’s on both a client (you haven’t seen the last of Molly!), and on yourself! As a bonus, these two tutorials will feature a collaboration with a top industry professional, and extremely talented make-up artist, Ginger Wise! I can not wait!
