I have type 2 papulopustular rosacea and I’ve tried various skin care routines and products over the years. I’d say I’ve finally found the regime that works for me after lots of trial and error. Through it all, one item has remained a constant – apple cider vinegar toner.
Now, for this to work for you, there are two things to keep in mind: 1. It smells like vinegar (obviously). If that’s not something you can get past, then you’ll need to find something else. 2. If you want to give it a go, make sure to test it in an inconspicuous area first.

Why apple cider vinegar toner works
It probably sounds a bit bizarre to be rubbing vinegar on your face. But hear me out – there’s science behind why apple cider vinegar is the best choice, especially if you have particular skin concerns.
When diluted, apple cider vinegar can help balance the skin’s pH, restore the natural acid barrier, provide gentle exfoliation, ease inflammation, and maintain skin hydration. You can read more about it here.
What you’ll need:
- Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother)
- Filtered water
- Empty bottle of your choice (I like to use a travel flip top bottle)
What you’ll do:
To start, fill your bottle halfway up with apple cider vinegar. Then top it off with filtered water. That’s it!
How to use apple cider vinegar toner:
First, after cleansing in the morning and/or evening, apply your apple cider vinegar toner to a cotton ball or pad of your choice. Then, gently swipe the toner across your face, avoiding the area directly around your eyes.
Additional Benefits:
I use apple cider vinegar twice a day to help ease my rosacea symptoms. However, there are many different skin conditions and uses for it. In addition, it can be used to reduce inflammation from sunburns, a gentle exfoliant, and to ease acne symptoms. Furthermore, you can also use it as an odor reducer for feet or even arm pits. Just make sure to check with your doctor if you have a health condition, and as stated earlier, do a patch test to make sure your skin is ok with it.
And that’s it! Do you think this is something you’d try? Have you found products that work well with your rosacea? Share with your fellow readers in the comments below!
